McKerns Development and PR (formerly McKerns Development) has been in existence for twelve (12) years. McKerns Development and PR also has a medical specialty. McKerns has co-authored five books for medical and therapeutic professionals and has written numerous articles for the medical profession and the interested public. Clients are in the fields of therapy (Occupational, Physical, Cognitive, Speech/Language), traumatic brain injury, neurology, pain management, orthotics, surgery, anesthesiology, and cognitive and physical rehabilitation. Ms. McKerns is the co-developer of cognitive and physical therapy products using therapeutic and traditional educational goals to restore and develop function. Ms. McKerns is a former Board Member of the American Lung Association and the co-developer of a special education curriculum for traumatic brain injury – and this curriculum was adopted in two Palm Beach County, FL charter schools for children from 4-12 who may be non-verbal, have communication deficits and have mobility and movement disabilities.

OWNER AND FIRM HISTORY

Leslie McKerns, holds the B.A. degree in English from Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, and the B.S. degree in Interior Design and Construction from Florida International University in Miami, Florida.

Prior to founding the firm, McKerns held executive Vice President, multi-office and multi-state Department Head leadership positions in two of the State of Florida’s large Architectural, Interior Design, Engineering and Development firms. This led a natural course to promotion and business development of firms and services and ultimately to the founding of her own public relations, press and media relations firm, where she specializes in strategic press and transforming startups into brands.

In her design and development career, McKerns has structured mergers and acquisitions, landed contracts in the millions of square feet, formed joint ventures, and associations, and publicized many millions of square feet of public and private ventures. As a former commercial interior designer, she has participated on the design leadership team for such landmark projects as the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Westinghouse, ATT, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami Dade Community College, Bank Hapaolim, Banco de Venezuela, and the James L. Knight Center (a contemporary entertainment and convention center in downtown Miami).

McKerns also provides strategic PR, marketing and business development leadership to numerous small and large firms in the world of advertising, medical, brands, product development and other business ventures. Ms. McKerns has also teamed with advertising, PR and marketing firms to provide special expertise to their agency accounts, and to present and land new business.
